Septal resection

Septal resection (also called uterine septum resection) is a surgical procedure used to remove a partition (septum) inside the uterus. This septum is a congenital condition where the uterus is divided partially or completely by a wall of tissue.

The procedure is usually performed using a hysteroscope (same instrument used in diagnostic hysteroscopy)

A small surgical instrument is passed through the hysteroscope

The septum is carefully cut and removed
