Septal resection (also called uterine septum resection) is a surgical procedure used to remove a partition (septum) inside the uterus. This septum is a congenital condition where the uterus is divided partially or completely by a wall of tissue. 🔍 What is a uterine septum? A uterine septum is a birth defect in which a band of tissue divides the uterine cavity. It can lead to: Recurrent miscarriages Infertility Poor pregnancy outcomes ⚙️ How septal resection is done The procedure is usually performed using a hysteroscope (same instrument used in diagnostic hysteroscopy) A small surgical instrument is passed through the hysteroscope The septum is carefully cut and removed No external cuts or stitches are required
